Only a few days remain until tech rehearsal and the first recital performance on Saturday, and further recital preparation took place on Wednesday and Thursday. Michelle assigned me to work on the dress rehearsal change areas for all dancers. Backstage 1, backstage 2, auditorium center, auditorium front right, auditorium back left, and auditorium back right are the different types of changing spaces. Backstage 1 and 2 are made up of older dancers that have a variety of dances and have a lot of quick changes. The front right and left sections of the auditorium are made up of younger dancers under the age of eight who aren't in many dances and only have dances at the beginning of the recital. Adult classes are held in the Auditorium Center. Back left and right in the auditorium are dancers beyond the age of ten who aren't in as many dances and don't have fast changes. These arrangements are established in this manner to ensure that dancers are separated by age, number of dances, and whether or not they have any fast changes.

The next task I completed was to create recital playlists. To burn the playlists onto a CD, they must contain the dances in the correct order for dress rehearsal and shows 1 and 2. The dress rehearsal playlist included approximately 50 songs, show 1 had approximately 20 songs, and show 2 had approximately 30 songs. In addition, because the clap out music is around 20 minutes long and requires its own CD, I needed to create a playlist for it. Clap out is when all of the dancers come on stage at the end of the recital and take their final bows. After all of the dancers have come on stage, the teachers join, and the seniors give them flowers. This is really a special moment for all of the dancers and teachers; one last dance party before the new season begins and the seniors depart for college. After making the playlists I burned them on to CD’s to be checked by the teachers, making sure they are in the correct order and all of the songs play. Finally, I finished teaching the combination to the red jazz class that I started last week. The video is linked here
